As a BzzAgent, I’m able to test out new products released by brands that I already love! In this case, I was sent a free bottle of the new Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil. I’m already a long-time fan of their hair dye line and have also recently started using their straightening heat protectant spray, so being picked for this campaign was a pleasant surprise. :) Marketed as an everyday multi-purpose product for hair, body, and face, this weightless formula absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave an oily residue. It combines three different oils: olive, avocado, and shea.
Olive oil moisturizes, protects, and replenishes your dry hair, improving its strength and elasticity. You face and body benefit from antioxidants that help protect against skin damage. Avocado oil is loaded with Vitamin E, and protects against dryness while locking in color and moisture to keep your hair looking radiant and silky soft. The oil’s natural hydrating abilities promote soft and supple skin, too. Shea oil is known for heaving unique healing properties. It rejuvenates damaged hair and leaves it with a healthy shine. It’s also a great moisturizer that helps improve elasticity in skin. –Garnier Fructis
Since I’ve been embracing my natural hair lately, and choose to air-dry instead of blow-dry, I could always use some extra moisture. After using this product every morning for a week.. I noticed that it was shinier, my waves were more defined, my dry ends didn’t feel as brittle, and my locks were overall softer.
1) Do not apply directly into your hair. Especially your bangs. The product is very heavy and soaks in really quickly, so it won’t get distributed evenly and you’ll just end up looking greasy. If you have medium/long hair like me, two spritzes into your palm will be enough. Rub your hands together, and run them through your damp hair at least three inches from your scalp in a downward massaging motion. Once your hair has dried and you still think it could use some extra moisture or softness, do not use more than one spritz to touch up. A little goes a long way!
2) If you have oily and/or acne-prone skin, do not apply onto your face. Not for extended periods of time, at least. I didn’t even risk it, since I know that I break out really easily. If you have dry skin on other parts of your body, though, I highly recommend this. It’s a lot more lightweight than other similar oil-based products, and gives a healthy glow. Since I love showing off my legs in the warmer seasons, I can imagine myself using a little bit of this to accentuate them in shorts/skirts/dresses. :P

I haven’t had a haircut in over a year. All the salons near my campus are just way too expensive! But because hair grows faster in the Summer, I decided that now would be the best time to get rid of all those gross split ends. I was getting really tired of my hair always getting in my face, too, so I asked my stylist to angle the front (so that it frames my chin better) and layer the back. ; )
I know it doesn’t look much different from before, but I didn’t feel daring enough to go for bangs like I had wanted to. >.<; Anyway, I got it done at the same salon that I’ve been going to since I was about eight years old. It’s called Touch of Class, and they’re located on 252nd st. & Union Turnpike in Bellerose. I was actually lucky that they had a $25 Tuesday special on wash-and-cuts, because I had no idea. XD
Also, because I’m desperate to keep my hair healthier this time around, I picked up a bottle of Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-In Conditioner at CVS. I actually happened to buy it on sale for only $3 , when it’s usually $7. Win! :D
It smells lovely and exotic, almost like piña colada. The main ingredients (after water) are aloe, silk extract, ginseng, and amodimethicone. How can you go wrong with those? :P After applying into damp hair and then air-drying, it really defines my natural waves. And apart from combating humidity, even after blow-drying and flat-ironing, it leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft and protected. <3
In other news, I watched Bad Teacher with a few of my friends the other day at the College Point Multiplex! Kirsten wrote a more in-depth review here on her blog. : ) To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from the movie from to start with. In fact, I was almost sure it was going to be terrible. So imagine how surprised I was when I found myself laughing throughout the entire thing!
Although I’m not a huge fan of Cameron Diaz, she did play the role of “superficial, manipulative, half-assed teacher” well. And who knew that Justin Timberlake can actually act? Not me, that’s for sure. Jason Segel had the wittiest lines in the entire movie, though, and I’m not surprised. I loved him in Forgetting Sarash Marshall. <3 And although there were a lot of unrealistic scenarios throughout the movie, I didn’t mind very much since it was still hilarious. =)
I can’t say that it’s worth your time and money to see in theaters, since my sense of humor might be completely different from yours, but definitely try and watch it when it comes out on DVD or Netflix. : ) Before I go, here’s a group shot of me and my friends in the parking lot of the multiplex. It’s kind of obvious that we used the self-timer on the back of someone’s car and hoodie, isn’t it? But it’s capturing moments like these that make me glad that I carry my camera with me wherever I go. Until next time! ^.^

Because I’m a BzzAgent, I’m often given the opportunity to try out new products for free and share my opinion of them with people like you guys! : ) In partnership with TRESemmé, I was sent two free bottles of their new Color Revitalize Shampoo & Conditioner. Now, believe me, I’m no stranger to TRESemmé products. I’m a long-time fan of their Moisture Rich Conditioner. So imagine my excitement when I was signed up for this campaign! :D
Did you know that the number one reason for hair color fade isn’t exposure to UV rays, salt, chlorine, or pollution? It’s wash out from daily cleansing, which strips the hair shaft of dye molecules and natural oils. Chemicals in water also alter the tone of your color!
This product claims that it will bring the shine back to your color-treated hair and protect it from further fading. Because my hair has become really brassy and dull since my last bleaching, I was hoping this would help me out. The color in this next photo might be a little exaggerated because it was taken with my iPod, but this is basically what my hair looked like:
After two washes, I had already noticed a slight difference in my hair color. Because the Color Revitalize Shampoo & Conditioner does not deposit color, but instead cleanses your current shade, the blonde in my hair has become lighter and less “yellow”. It’s also shinier! Unfortunately, using the shampoo and conditioner alone dries out my already damaged hair and leaves it more tangled after a shower than my Aussie Moist Shampoo & Conditioner. I would definitely suggest following up with a deep conditioner and/or leave-in conditioner afterwards if you have overprocessed hair like mine.
I also received a ton of coupons with my package! Although TRESemmé products are already quite affordable (about $5 for a huge 32-oz bottle), an extra dollar off just makes it better. :P If you know me in person, feel free to ask for one! : )

Hey, guys! I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a couple days. I’ve been busy painting my room. Blog post and photos regarding that to come sometime this weekend. : ) Anyways, I took my brother out today after he got out of school. I really wanted to spend some quality time with him before I leave this next Tuesday.
You heard me right – I’m leaving for school in four days for RA training! Stony Brook University called me the other morning and offered me the Resident Assistant position that I applied for last year! I received a callback for an interview last spring, and was put on the waiting list, but I never actually thought I would get hired. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity. The free housing doesn’t hurt, either. ; )
Anyway, my brother and I took a trip to Queens Center Mall and Queens Place Mall to spend some gift cards he had. Before we actually got around to doing anything, though, I treated him out to dinner at Five Guys. It was a little pricey, but definitely the best fast food burgers we’ve ever had. I may even go as far as saying it was better than In-N-Out! :o
Of course, the first place he wanted to go was Gamestop. We found a used Gamecube controller for only $15 so that he could finally start owning noobs online in GoldenEye! :P We then headed over to Target shortly afterwards, and he bought this super cute Hello Kitty alarm clock. This was for himself, mind you. I’m glad that he’s secure enough with himself to not mind owning “girly” things.
As for me.. I was in terrible need of an organizer for all my makeup, nail polishes, and other small beauty items. I found this amazing black lace Caboodles train case for only $20!
As you can see, it has four foldaway “shelves” plus even more space at the bottom! It’s the perfect size to fit all my beauty supplies, since I’ve been having trouble packing everything into my old cosmetic bag. Here’s what it looks like when it’s half-filled with my stuff, and there’s still plenty of space!
While I was there, I also picked up the Wet’n’Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Goddess and the TRESemmé Heat Tamer Spray. This is my third bottle of the latter, so I’m pleased to announce that this product has reached HG status for me. <3 My hair has never felt so healthy before with all the heat styling I do – it’s even grown considerably longer since I’ve started using it, since the ends don’t break off anymore! A definitely must for all of you who regularly abuse your hair with a blow dryer or flat iron.
My mom was also nice enough to let me buy a little something for myself with her credit card as a reward for my newly-earned position as an RA. I found this floral dress at Forever 21 for only $19. Perfect to wear over tights with a cardigan while it’s cold, and perfect to wear alone once spring rolls around!
Until next time! ^o^

Despite what many of my fellow beauty junkies may think, makeup DOES have an expiration date. Expired cosmetics are breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria, and you risk infection by continuing to use them. Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog, whose posts I love and regularly read, gives us the general shelf life of different kinds of products here.
Fortunately for me, the only thing I’ve ever had expire on me was nail polish and mascara. And this was just the case the other morning when I opened my tube of Maybelline Great Lash BIG, only to smell a FOUL odor. And it was right on time, too, as I’ve had it for about 3.5 months now. Needless to say, I threw it out immediately, and took a walk to the drugstore for a new one. There, I picked up a tube of Maybelline Full N’ Soft mascara, in Very Black. Look at the effect it has on my wimpy lashes! (The difference is much more dramatic in real life.)
Full N’ Soft is definitely much better than Great Lash. It doesn’t clump, looks very natural, and gives the appearance of brighter and bigger eyes. Two coats lengthens my lashes significantly, and holds a nice curl. They don’t make my lashes flake or feel stiff – like the name, they leave them soft to the touch! Though I’ve only been through about four or five different mascaras, this has been the best so far. :o
On another note, while I was at CVS, I was disappointed to not find a bottle of Pantene Pro-V Heat Protection Spray, since my dear friend Mia recommended it to me. Here she is, being adorable:
I’ve never used a Heat Protectant before, and that’s probably why I’ve had a history of damaged hair. I mean, look at all the harmful things I do to it – I dye, straighten, blowdry, and curl on a regular basis! >.<; So instead, I bought a bottle of TRESemmé Heat Tamer Spray. I’ve also heard great things about this, and it’s pretty cheap for only $5. : )
Also, I’m sorry for being on such a makeup binge these past few weeks. I just haven’t had any drive for anything else this summer. I spend most of my days working indoors or doing errands around the neighborhood, neither of which require me to get all dressed up and fashion-conscious. I’m sure that when I get back to school, though, my posts will definitely be more diverse. And because I love food so much, I’ll leave you guys with a picture of what I made last night for dinner. It’s a soup that consists of garlic, onion, clams, ginger, and patis. It’s best served on top of white rice, with fried tofu on the side. Yum!
